Color Contacts

Contact lenses are medical devices for the vision correction. Color contacts, on the other hand, can act both as a medical device and as an aesthetic device, correcting your vision and making your eyes look pretty and fashionable.

Several types of color contacts exist on the market. Visibility tint with a light blue or green tint added to contacts has nearly no affect on the eye color, helping you see it better during insertion and removal. Color contacts with enhancement tint are a little bit darker than visibility tint and do affect eye color. Color tints are deeper, opaque tints that can dramatically change your eye color for fancy and special occasions. Some popular colors for color contacts include green, blue, gray, brown, violet and purple.

When you purchase color contacts, you need to show your prescription to the store. Therefore, the first thing you need to do before buying color contacts is to get a checkup and get a prescription. Non-prescription color contacts, called plano are used only for cosmetic purposes instead of vision correction function. Although you do not need a prescription for these contacts, you should always consult your optometrist or doctor for advice as some of these color contacts may be unhealthy for the eyes. Inappropriate wearing of color contacts can damage your eyes.

There are many types of color contacts you can choose from. You can choose either daily-wear or disposable contacts according to your needs. Normally, daily-wear color contacts are longer lasting and economical; they are suitable for frequent usage. The disadvantage is that you need to clean and disinfect them often to keep them clean and safe for use. Disposable color contacts are more convenient for occasional wearing and you can avoid the effort in cleaning. Compared with daily-wear ones, the disposable color contacts are costlier. One thing worth mentioning is that it is highly recommended that you not to share color contacts to keep your eyes healthy.

Acuvue and Fresh Look are two popular brands of color contacts. Acuvue color contacts are produced by Johnson & Johnson. Acuvue color contacts are more conservative in nature, focusing on classy, convenience and comfort. Fresh look color contacts are created by CIBA Vision. Fresh look has more colors to choose from and the focus is on fashion and trend. It is important to not that not everyone can choose any color for their contacts. The color is somewhat determined by your current eye color. If your current eye color is dark, then your color choices will be different than if your current eye color is lighter. Many online stores have sample pictures of others similar to your eye color wearing color contacts. As with any health related product, always consult your doctor prior to purchasing color contacts.
