Hot Tub

A hot tub or is a large tub of heated water that is used for soaking and relaxing. A hot tub can be used outdoors or indoors. With the evolution of hot tubs with more features at lower prices, more homeowners are enjoying the relaxation that a hot tub offers.

Hot Tub Location
Although there are indoor hot tubs, most people who buy hot tubs are looking for an outdoor hot tub. The main reason is that most people don’t have the type of space inside a home to accommodate a hot tub. There are indoor Jacuzzi’s which are essentially a bath tub with water jets but that is a separate topic. An outdoor hot tub doesn’t mean it has to just sit in your backyard. There are many ways to situate your outdoor hot tub such that you get the maximum benefit of the warming sun, yet avoid the elements of the weather during the winter months. You can build a translucent canopy or gazebo over your hot tub to shield against rain, snow and direct sunlight. Additionally you may need a special deck or even pour concrete that will support your hot tub.

Hot Tub Features
Modern hot tubs come with many features. Some of the more important ones you should consider prior to purchasing a hot tub include
  • Size and Seating - The first to ask yourself is how big of a hot tub do you want and how many people do you plan to have in your hot tub. Hot tubs can hold anywhere from 2 to 10 people. For most people, a hot tub that can seat between 4-6 people is a reasonable range.

  • Water Jet Features - The number of water jets and the various features can also dictate the price as well as how many people your hot tub can seat. If you are into hydrotherapy or using water jets to relieve special ailments, then you may have to forgo the number of seats for better quality jets in your hot tub.

  • Cleaning Capabilities - All hot tubs have standard filters that clean the water. More advanced features include an ozonator that uses ozone to sanitize the water. You can also purchase this device separately.
Buying a Hot Tub
After you have decided what size of hot tub you need and the features you want, it’s time to do your research. You can find most standard hot tubs for under $5,000. When buying a hot tub you need to consider all the costs of installation, maintenance as well as construction of gazebos or canopies. Don’t cut corners when it comes to you being able to use your hot tub to the fullest extent. There’s no point in spending thousands of dollars on a hot tub that you can’t use during the winter because you didn’t install something.
