Massage Chair

A massage chair contains mechanisms that give the person who sits in the chair a massage experience without having to go to a spa or masseuse. The massage chair usually features a back massage and an extension that allows for a leg massage.

Usually, the massage chair performs a back massage using a rolling, kneading or percussive motion. In the rolling motion, rollers move up and down the back of the massage chair. In a kneading motion, rollers and knobs are moved side to side. In a percussive motion, the knobs move in and out. These motions in a massage chair simulate a back massage experience. In some of the newer, high end massage chairs, air massage is featured. Air massage works by inflating and deflating mini air pockets.

A massage chair normally has an extension where you can lie down and add a leg massager. The leg massager in a massage chair surrounds your lower calfs and has rollers moving up and down as well as a squeezing motion.

When buying a massage chair you want to make sure that you can adjust the intensity and add or remove padding. People tend to overuse the massage chair which can be damaging to your body. Make sure that you adjust the intensity so that it does not hurt to sit in a massage chair. If the lowest setting is uncomfortable, try putting more padding. If you want to have a stronger massage, you can always remove the padding. This is an important feature of a massage chair.

Massage chairs can vary in price quite a bit. Some of the entry level ones cost a couple of hundred dollars while premium massage chairs with air massagers can cost several thousand dollars. Massage chairs are great for the person who wants to get a massage often but does not want to pay or venture out of their home. Of course a massage chair does not replace a professional massage. There are many online stores selling massage chairs. You should do your research and find the massage chair that best fits your needs.
