As for the concern of cleanliness, you can prevent accidental spillage on your table by refilling the printer ink cartridge over some newspapers or over a sink.

The quality of printing from refilled cartridges compared to new cartridges is similar as the inks are chemically identical. Printer ink cartridges have a general refill life of between 4 and 10 refills dependent on the brand, model, and how often it is continuously used.

To extend the life of your ink printer cartridge, you should try to avoid the overheating caused by printing when the cartridge is near empty. When there is no printer ink, the resistors overheat and will diminish the life of the printer ink cartridge.
