Rental Car

Rental cars are usually recent model cars that are available for a fee to rent for a day or longer. Most rental cars can be found in rental centers near airports. When renting a car, think AIR:

A is for Age and Ability to drive: In order to avoid an additional charge, the rental car driver usually has to be 25 years of age or older. A full valid driving license and identification is required. Rental car companies will adhere to these age restrictions. Also make sure that you have a valid credit card as it is usually needed to rent a car.

I is for Insurance: You can purchase additional insurance at the rental car company that covers damages to the car.  This is usually around $10 a day and is not too expensive if you want the added protection.

R is for Returning the Rental Car: When returning the rental car, make sure that you check that there aren’t any late fees. Late returns can be subject to an additional charge. Also check to see if you need to return the rental car with a full tank or not. If you agreed to fill up the tank but fail to do so, you will get charged a very high fee per gallon.

As a smarter consumer make sure you follow the AIR rule and do your research online to find the best rental car deal.
