Window BlindsA window blind is a covering for a window that is an alternative to drapes and curtains. The purpose of the window blind is to reduce or cover the level of light coming through the window. There are many types of window blinds including metal blinds, aluminum blinds, vertical blinds, venetian blinds and mini blinds.Window blinds are typically cheaper than drapes and are more versatile. Blinds can either let in some light or let in no light. Additionally window blinds allow the person inside to look outside while preventing someone outside from seeing in depending on the angle of the blind. Metal blinds and aluminum blinds are usually used for the bedroom where they can block all light. Vinyl blinds on the other hand are translucent in nature. They are better in the kitchen and living room where the strong rays of the afternoon sun can get blocked while still letting in light to see. Vertical blinds, also known as track blinds, costs of slats that hang from one end of a track. The slats can be rotated 90 degrees to let in light or they can be folded up to one side of the window. Venetian blinds consist of horizontal flat slats that overlap when closed. A connector can be rotated to move the slats on a venetian blind or the entire blind can be rolled up to expose the window completely. Mini blinds are essentially venetian blinds with very narrow slats. Vinyl mini blinds are quite popular. There is also another type of blind called solid blinds, also called window shades. These blinds are typically translucent and can only be rolled up to expose the window. There are many types of window blinds and materials to choose from when making your decision to purchasing design. Make sure you research online and understand all the benefits and drawbacks of the window blinds that you choose for your rooms. |
